Pastor’s Aid Ministry

The function of the Thomas Tabernacle Pastor’s Aide, under the leadership of Pastor Edward J. Rollins Sr., is to lift up the pastor in prayer as he seeks to shepherd God’s people.As a unified body it is our objective to help carry the spiritual burden that is laid on the pastor. We seek to edify, encourage, and honor the man of God as he follows Christ with all due diligence. It is our goal to operate as a vehicle to facilitate the needs, desires, and vision of our pastor, whatever that may consist of.

1 Timothy 5:17

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

 History

The Pastors Aide auxiliary was first organized in 1978 under Elder Lewis as he outlined the need by saying:  “I need someone to take care of the needs of the Pastor and Staff”. These pastoral needs would include:

Having his robe/attire cleaned and ready for service;

Showing appreciation and giving monetary gifts to the staff on special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, Fathers Day, Mothers Day and birthdays;

Providing financial assistance for the Pastor for out of town engagements or whatever occasions would arise.

From 1978 through 2007 the Pastors Aide Pastoral Anniversary theme was Matthew 24:44 …Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Our goal, was to always be ready to meet the needs of the pastor and staff; to work together as one for the common purpose of pleasing God first and then his fellow man.

The original committee was hand-picked by Elder Lewis.

President Sister Dorothy Bowie, Vice President Mother Cora Rollins, Treasurer & Chaplin Evangelist Harriet Ames, Members: Sister Clara Biggus, Sister Rosalind Rollins and Sister Evelyn Diggs. This committee was in place for 29 years.

You will find the Pastors Aide committee still working tirelessly to meet the needs of the Bishop and staff.
